Eleven year old Rog lives with his eccentric family on his grandfather’s horse and cattle ranch in the California Lowlands and is being groomed by his grandfather to take over the ranch operations. Rog’s best friend and father-figure is a wrangler named Louie who takes the time to teach Rog lessons of life from a hippy-cowboy’s perspective. Rog’s older sister, Dana, is on the track to World Class Dressage Championship.
Rog is highly intelligent and has a mysterious inner voice that guides him in times of extreme stress. Such as the time when he was nearly abducted and the voice in his head instructed him to run.
Rog meets Sloan who at just 9 years old is already a force to be reckoned with. In fact, Rog’s inner voice warns him about her. Though he does not like girls yet, Rog knows he has met the girl he is going to marry. He figures the two of them will raise children, horses, and cows when he takes over the ranch and live happily ever after.
But, as Louie taught him, life is not that simple.
Rog’s self-serving egotistical uncle embezzles the ranch operation funds to purchase beachfront property on Balboa Island for his lover. Rog’s grandfather is forced to sell off most of the ranch property and assets to cover the debts and move back to Texas. All that’s left of the ranch is the guest house and the small stables on 20 acres of pasture. Everybody in the family but Rog, Dana, and their mother, Clara and all the hired hands have left.
Sloan becomes too much for her single father to raise so she is sent to Malibu to live with her gold-digger mother known as Sally-Succubus. Sally’s boyfriend is a low level Hollywood executive. Sloan is exposed to a lot of debauchery and inappropriate physical contact with men during her young years in Malibu. As a last ditch effort, Sloan is sent to boarding school in Moraga, California.
Dana goes into depression after losing her champion prize mare, April Princess. But then she meets a strong guy on a Harley-Davidson Chopper named Easy who is twice her age and they fall in love. The ranch suddenly becomes an outlaw motorcycle clubhouse -- sex, drugs, rock & roll! Rog and Easy bond. Easy takes time to teach Rog lessons of life from a biker perspective.
And then Easy is sent to prison at around the same time that Sloan is kicked out of boarding school.
Rog, Sloan, and her older brother Wally move to San Luis Obispo so that Wally, who is also highly intelligent, can attend the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) and earn a BS in Electrical Engineering. Rog learns from exposure to Wally’s studies that he too has an affinity for technology. He applies for and is accepted at Cal Poly, majoring in Computer Science.
Rog meets a new class of people while studying at Cal Poly. He interns as a computer programmer at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant where he is introduced to engineers and physicists and mathematicians. Eventually, he meets the extremely mephistophelean, Lee Nelson who worships Satan and runs most of Silicon Valley.
Sloan also meets a new class of people. She begins to take more and more after her mother. Rog has a difficult time handling her. She is hyper-sexual and easily bored. She loves the nightlife and all things Goth.
Influenced by Sloan, guided by Lee Nelson, and before he knows how it happened, Rog falls into the deep dark Satanic Culture of Silicon Valley and it’s obsession with Hawaiian Cannibalism.
Sloan enjoys the partying, the sex, the drugs, the money that comes with Satanic worship… she wants more. But to get what she wants means she must convince Rog to participate with her in more of the satanic death and blood rituals.
Rog is conflicted. He does not want that life and he is losing trust in Sloan. He makes a weak attempt to escape when he meets a woman named Peggy who is the complete opposite of Sloan. Peggy and Rog make big plans to get married and move to Texas to be closer to their families. But at the last moment, Rog can not leave Sloan and he marries her instead.
Things only get worse for Rog after that. He keeps finding himself doing terrible things he doesn’t want to do in order to keep moving up in position. Out of frustration, Rog is ultimately betrayed and almost murdered for profit by Sloan and her uncontrollable greed.
Rog manages to escape Sloan but he hits rock bottom and Lee Nelson is there to catch him. Lee has big plans for Rog. And for Sloan. And for Wally too.
For those plans to reach fruition, Rog must do something horrible. He must ritualistically slaughter Wally.
Rog’s inner voice comes to the rescue once more.
Rog leaves everything behind, becomes Natsirim, and goes looking for Louie. When he finds him, he finds home.
